Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:15th June 2015 The UAE Ministry of Energy has announced the second edition of the UAE State of Energy Report 2016. The report, which will be released on 22nd October 2015, and is said to focus on the renewable energy contributions by public and private establishments, sustainable development in the nation. This year will see the second edition of the annual publication, which is supported and quality assured by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

“The annual report features the ‘Who’s Who’ of the industry and provides public and private entities alike, the opportunity to share their success stories to a global audience. The report has been aligned with the Ministry’s strategy to engage its stakeholders and make the quest towards a diversified and efficient energy sector,” said H.E. Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), as title sponsor will be the main supporter of the publication along with Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Dolphin Energy, Abdul Latif Jameel Energy & Environmental Services, eSolar, Emerson’s and InSinkerator.

The 2016 edition will feature new elements, such as the introduction of a benchmarking mechanism indexing the performance of national energy sectors in the areas of security, equity and environmental sustainability starting with the UAE and its Emirates. In the coming years, this index will include data from various other participating countries thereby supporting an annual worldwide comparison.

Divided into eight chapters, the report will encompass topics on sustainability, energy resources and consumption, climate change. The content will be guided by the expertise of the ‘chapter champions’ and insights of the report supporters, who are some of the thought leaders of the UAE energy sector.

The report is compiled in close cooperation with the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence and the United Nations Development Programme.
