The first coordination meeting between Dubai Carbon, Environment Public Authority (EPA) and local stakeholders to kick off the new collaboration with UN Environment took place in Kuwait recently.

As part of this project, Dubai Carbon will aid in the preparation of the Second National Communication and the First Biennial Update Report for Kuwait funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) by developing an NIS for Kuwait’s greenhouse gas emissions. Dubai Carbon will also propose procedures and protocols to be adopted by Kuwait for reporting data and information exchange among the relevant stakeholders.

Insights and inputs 

Both UN Environment and Dubai Carbon will provide insights and strategic inputs on how to report accurate greenhouse gas emission inventories. One of the main objectives of the meeting was to identify a roadmap for creating the various knowledge products, including an NIS Manual, training for national GHG experts in using the reporting system and offering a comprehensive evaluation of the system and implementing any updates.

The new comprehensive system will be leveraged to make informed decisions on climate change strategies for Kuwait.
