Dubai, UAE – 10th March, 2014: Dubai Properties Group (DPG), master developer of world class destinations in Dubai including Business Bay, DUBAILAND, JBR, and Culture Village, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (DCCE) to improve resource efficiency and environmental awareness in line with its ongoing CSR programme.
The move comes in support of the ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development’ initiative launched in 2012 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai that falls under the UAE’s 2021 vision.
Dubai Carbon will support DPG by developing a programme of solutions to improve the company’s efficiency and environmental performance effectively helping DPG reduce its carbon emissions across all existing and upcoming projects.
Mr Khalid Al Malik, Group CEO of DPG said, “DPG is committed to enhancing its sustainability performance through responsible development of the communities we live in. We believe that this partnership with the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence will positively contribute to our society through a joint effort to further support responsible living in Dubai.”
Commenting on the MoU Eng. Waleed Salman, Chairman of Dubai Carbon said: “We are all proud to work towards UAE 2021 and this partnership is a first step in this direction with the aim to improve the resource consumption and the environmental impact of residential communities.”
Mr Salman continued: “I trust the potential of reduced emissions this can lead to, in support of the ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development’ initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This partnership aims to work towards a better Dubai in line with the Expo 2020 objectives to improve the city we live in.”
The MoU signing by DPG is an example of the developer’s corporate responsibility (CR) platform “Responsible Living” launched in 2011. As part of this programme, DPG facilitates events and joint collaborations with authorities and non-profit organizations in an attempt to give back to the community and promote different aspects of living responsibly.
